Julia M. Brown has been at the Playwrights' Center since 2012 and currently serves as the Artistic Programs Manager, overseeing eight fellowship programs and helping to produce 70+ new play workshops each year. She is also a songwriter, performer, dramaturg, and playwright. She received her B.A. in Theater and English from Macalester College while serving as Business Manager for the Macalester choir program and co-founding the Performing Histories Project. Her adaptation of the Táin Bó Cúailnge was featured at the 2011 IMDA St. Patrick's Day celebration at the Landmark Center in St. Paul. Other plays include Ash, Marcus & Nadine, and the one-act War Stories. She has performed and recorded with a number of bands and choirs in the Twin Cities, including the folk-rock group Sister Theda who released their EP, B., in 2017, and supporting Bring Prudence on their new album, Dreamboat, which was released in 2023. She currently sings with the Unity Singers at Unity Church-Unitarian, the Summer Singers, and with the band Barrel Flash at venues around the Twin Cities.
