Lee Blessing's plays include: A WALK IN THE WOODS (Broadway and the West End--nominations for Tony and Olivier Awards as well as a Pulitzer finalist); GOING TO ST. IVES (Outer Critics' Circle Award for Best Play, Obie for Ensemble Performance); A BODY OF WATER (Steinberg/American Theatre Critics Association Award); THIEF RIVER (Drama Desk nomination, Best Play); COBB (Drama Desk Award, Best Ensemble); CHESAPEAKE; ELEEMOSYNARY; and DOWN THE ROAD. In the 1992-93 Signature Theatre Season: FORTINBRAS, LAKE STREET EXTENSION, TWO ROOMS and the world premiere of PATIENT A.

Recent plays include THE MURDERS, THE FAMILY LINE (produced by Stage North at the Capri Theatre in Minneapolis in Spring, 2022), TEA WITH THE BOSS and MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL.

Other widely-produced plays include: FOR THE LOYAL, GREAT FALLS, INDEPENDENCE, THE WINNING STREAK, RICHES and NICE PEOPLE DANCING TO GOOD COUNTRY MUSIC.

Blessing's plays have been produced widely around the world, including recent productions in Brazil, the Czech Republic and Peru.

Additional awards: L.A. Drama Critics Award, Great American Play Award, Humanitas Award, George and Elisabeth Marton Award among others.

Blessing is professor emeritus at Rutgers University. For a dozen years he headed their graduate playwriting program.
